Bummed that you missed the Color Manila Run that happened last Sunday? Here’s a few running events that you can look into, so mark your calendars. You might also see me in some of these races, so please don’t hesitate to say hi.

Returning from its absence in 2014, Condura teams up with the Help Educate and Rear Orphans (HERO) Foundation, Inc. to bring you the Run For A Hero 2015, where runners compete for various trophies while supporting the education of children of AFP personnel killed or incapacitated during active service. Choose between 6K, 10K, 21K or 42K and make a run for it along the Metro Manila Skyway. Registration fees are a bit steep, but hey, it’s for a good cause, and you get a finisher’s medal too.

Why settle for a regular run when you can add a splash of color while you stride along Rajah Sulayman Park, Malate, Manila? This 5K only event should make a fun and vibrant experience for everyone, so get ready to run, or walk, but don’t forget to get dyed. Registration costs Php 650 only, and comes with the usual bib and chip, as well as a colorful singlet to match the occasion. You can contact  734-7080 / 0939 780 9100 for more information.

Previously Run 1000, the numbers change based on their anticipated nationwide store count (yes, they’re eyeing 1500 this year). Race venue also changes from CAVITEX to either Festival City or via the Metro Manila Skyway, depending on your race category. New categories include the 10KM buddy run and 42KM. Race prices can be found here. Finish within the allotted time for your race category and you get a finisher shirt with a shiny medal along with the default color-coded singlet and freebies from their sponsors.

So you think a marathon on city pavement is beneath you? How about running 80 kms along the circumference of Mt. Mayon in Albay, passing by 10 municipalities/cities and 77 Barangays along the way, in under 16 hours? If this is your cup of tea, then a shiny new medal is waiting for you at the finish line. A tad bit too much? Then bring one or three other runners and do a 2-man or 4-man relay to split the kilometers. Don’t worry, each of you gets a medal too.

Skyathon Boracay Beach Run (Saturday, Apr 25, 2015)

As if you need another excuse to hit Beautiful Bora. Choose from 5K and 10K, with or without obstacle categories to make your beach trip another worthwhile experience.

While the following events have no specific dates yet, they are definitely worth looking out for:

Bored with the usual run, and adding color doesn’t cut it anymore? How about an obstacle course that involves fire, barb wires, and just getting downright dirty? No official event date has been published on their website as of yet, but their FB page teases a schedule in March for a yet to be revealed location.

rexona Rexona Run To Your Beat

The 2014 gig had racers move to the music along MOA Seaside Boulevard in October, with a killer after party. Let’s hope for another one this year.

2015 should be the 39th year for the brand’s marathon event. Eliminations are held throughout the year in various locations in the Philippines, and a final marathon for the qualifiers wraps the whole event. While Typhoon Ruby derailed the Manila finals last year by a few days, this year the race is expected to proceed, better than ever.
